Art and Design

Each term, each class takes part in 2 art days.  A range of experiences are planned by class teachers and each class studies the work of different artists.  There is a strong emphasis on the development of skills – drawing, using colour, texture, form, printing and pattern and lessons are planned to ensure there is progression as children move through the school.

We are also  fortunate to be involved in an Arts project over the next 3 years called ‘START’ with the Queen’s Hall and Theatre sans Frontiere.  This is funded by 2 charities – Children and the Arts and Culture Bridge North East.  There will be opportunities for children to experience both the performing and visual arts and gain a richer understanding of the arts in Northumberland.  There will be visits to performances, exhibitions and artist-led workshops.  In the process, children will be able to gain an arts award.  We will look forward to sharing our artistic experiences and creations with you.
